The Student Leadership Training Program is a series of conferences that are designed to help students gain skills in leadership. There are three conferences a year for highschool juniors.
Each conference is unique, with an agenda arranged by the current year’s student directors and the planning committee. The conferences are an interactive educational experience where students learn various leadership techniques. At each workshop, a main theme is presented by a featured speaker, followed by breakout sessions guided by the Student Directors, with facilitation by instructors from Adventure Programs at Clark Sports Center. Students enjoy the exchange of ideas and practices that they are able to implement in their home schools.
The Student Directors play a large role in the Leadership Program. At the March program, high school juniors are nominated by their peers to run for the next year’s Student Director positions. The nominees prepare speeches to be presented at the April program, which are followed by a general election. At the beginning of the next program year, the newly-elected Student Directors are trained in conference planning, group facilitation, and debriefing of activities.
The conferences are held at the State University College at Oneonta, in the Hunt Union. They typically run from 9:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.

All events take place at the State University College at Oneonta. Students are chosen by and registered for these workshops by their respective school districts. Registration forms and descriptive fliers will be sent to schools in advance of each event. If you have questions regarding the program, or are unsure if your district is currently a member of this CoSer, please contact us.
