CASSC and the SUNY Oneonta NOYCE Scholars present:
Hands-On Explorations of the Biological & Physical Sciences
Class Limit: 18 students, GRADES 6 - 10
Each week small teams of students will explore contemporary and classical physical and biological science concepts through hands-on investigations. Potential topics include sound, light, waves, electricity, magnetism, and chemistry, with possible excursions into the Fibonacci spiral, biology, and/or plate tectonics. Challenging mathematics will be incorporated into each lesson. All sessions will include discussion of career pathways within the topics studied. The program will be taught by teams of college students who are training to become middle and high school mathematics and science teachers.
Since this is a very popular program with only 18 slots available we recommend completing the registration forms and returning to your school district as soon as possible. The registration deadline is Tuesday January 10th.
Winter SAT Prep
CASSC will be offering SAT prep for six Saturdays beginning January 21st and ending February 25th from 9-11:30am. This is a great opportunity for your student to get direct instruction and preparation tips and tricks as your student prepares for college. Deadline to register is January 10th. Students must register for these classes through their school districts; the Study Council cannot accept registrations directly from students or their parents.

The SAT Prep class is a six-week course for high school students who are preparing to take or re-take the S.A.T. exam. It includes a textbook and a CD-ROM. There is a link to a file containing the course description below. It takes place on six consecutive Saturday mornings. In order to register for this course you must submit a completed Student Information form for the SAT Prep class to your school's guidance office. The link for this form is below.
All the other enrichment courses are four weeks long,. In order to register for any of these courses you must submit both a Student Information form AND a Standard Release form to your school's guidance office. The links for these forms are below.
Students must register for these classes through their school districts; the Study Council cannot accept registrations directly from students or their parents. In order for a student to register, their district must be a member of the Study Council.
