Course Description
Students in the Appearance Enhancement Department will be preparing to enter a highly demanding, $52 billion-a-year industry. They will develop professional skills in business and communication.  They will use products used in business.  New York State and Industry standards set the entry-level guidelines for completion of licensing in the Cosmetology field.  A New York State license is recognized nationwide. Written and practical State Board Exams are given by the State of New York after students have successfully completed the course.  Upon certification, students will be ready for an entry-level position in the cosmetology industry.

= Cosmetology: 1000 hour program —salon ecology, trichology, haircutting, chemistry, biology, coloring, texturizing, styling, nail care, skin care and business law

Articulation Agreements
Students in the Cosmetology Program may receive advanced placement or college credit through Herkimer County Community College and Paul Smith’s College.
