CDA

Child Development Associate (CDA)
Participants must be 18 or older and be a high school graduate or have their GED. Participants must be working in the childcare field for a minimum of six months. The CDA is a national credential. Participants are asked to demonstrate their competence based on the six CDA Competency Goals. Class size is limited to 20 students Contact information is being accepted for those interested in taking the course. As soon as a sufficient number of students is available, a new class will be started.

CNA/HHA

Certified Nursing Assistant/Home Health Aide (CNA/HHA) Program
ONC BOCES offers a 130 hour CNA/HHA program. To be eligible for this class you must be 18 years of age or older. Students will leave the class eligible to sit for the Certified Nurse Aide exam and with a Home Health Aide certificate issued by the NY State Dept.of Education. Orientation and classes are held in Otsego and Delaware Counties. Students 21 years or older who do not have a HS diploma or GED may be eligible for free tuition. HSE/GED

Are you interested in getting your HSE/GED?
Studies have shown those with no high school diploma or High School Equivalency (more commonly known as a GED) face nearly a third higher unemployment rate than those with a diploma.
 
They make $10,000 a year less on average than 

someone with a diploma or HSE. Test Assessing Secondary Completion, which is the test used to get an HSE, preparation programs are offered at several locations including Northern Catskills Occupational Center in Grand Gorge and the Otsego Area Occupational Center in Milford.

They are also offered at the former Center Street Elementary School at 31 Center Street in Oneonta, as well as in Delhi and Cooperstown. These programs are free of charge to those 21 years and older who do not have a high school diploma or would like to improve their literacy or math skills. Adults who are enrolled and are attending HSE classes may  also enroll, free of charge, in Career and Technical Education courses offered at the occupational centers. Enrollment is subject to availability and scheduling.

We also offer the Giving Ready Adults a Study Program. GRASP is a free program to qualifying adult students 21 or older who wish to prepare for the GED exam at home.

HHA

Home Health Aide (HHA) Program
ONC BOCES offers a 90 hour Home Health Aide Program. To be eligible for this class you must be 18 years of age or older. Students will be given a Home Health Aide certificate upon completion of this class. Students 21 years or older who do not have a HS diploma or GED may be eligible for free tuition.
